The instrumentation in the laboratory allows, in an absolutely non-invasive way, the acquisition in numerical form, the processing and the integrated representation of kinematic and dynamic data related to the posture and movement of subjects. It is possible to measure position, speed, angles and other quantities of interest (EMG signals, derived forces and quantities (powers, moments, etc.. )

Equipment

In particular, at the Laboratory “Luigi Prohibition” there are two optoelectronic systems: an optoelectronic system SMART DX 400 (BTS SPA, IT), 8 cameras and 100 Hz), integrated with the force platforms, the EMG system that is used for total body movement acquisitions and that require large acquisition volumes (walking, vertical jump, posture, sit to stand, etc.); a SMART system (BTS, SPA, IT) with 6 cameras at 50 Hz. Synchronised with the optoelectronic system there is a traditional system for the video shooting of motion (BTS, It).

Two force platforms (AMTI, USA) capable of measuring the system of forces exchanged at the ground. From the knowledge of the system of forces exchanged to the ground and from the kinematics (through the SMART DX 400 system) it is possible to calculate the moments and the powers at the different joints.

A surface electromyograph based on wireless 8-channel technologies (FREEMG, BTS SPA, IT) able to acquire the electrical signal associated with muscle contraction.

A wireless inertial system (G-SENSOR, BTS SPA, IT) consisting of a triaxial accelerometer, a magnetic sensor and a triaxial gyroscope that allows a functional analysis of the path and vertical jump. In addition, always with this system you can perform specific clinical tests of functional evaluation such as the Timed Up and Go test (TUG) and the Sit To Stand test (STS)

The baropodometric platform (P-WALK, BTS, IT) allows to evaluate the distribution of the plantar pressures and the forces, both in the static phase and during the walking. The system is able to extrapolate, from the acquired data, all the parameters of the time space path necessary to carry out a diagnosis or define a rehabilitation strategy. Specifically, it provides quantitative information on the plantar support by calculating some parameters such as surface, maximum pressure, average pressure and pressure center. This quantitative measurement allows to identify with precision, instantaneousness and repeatability over time, the presence of plantar overloads, rotations and postural asymmetries

The laboratory is equipped with a wearable system for measuring oxygen consumption and other metabolic parameters of interest in both clinical and sports (K5 – Cosmed, IT). Such systems can be used to perform accurate cardio-pulmonary tests during maximal and sub-maximal exercises carried out using treadmills or cycloergometers. The main measurable parameters are: VO2, VCO2, Ventilation and energy expenditure.

A portable 3D Laser Scanner (LS3D) system (O&P – RODIN4D, FR) is used for three-dimensional reconstruction of objects. It is used in orthopaedics, in the design of hydraids and in other applications in biomedical and clinical fields. Has the advantage of being a cost-effective, fast and accurate and non-invasive technology

A polygraph (NEXUS, NL) that allows to acquire different physiological parameters, such as respiration, heart rate, skin conductance, skin temperature and some electrical signals (EEG, EMG, EOG, ECG)
